The short version

We build tools to organize your travel, not to sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertising networks. We study how Trip Underway is used, including session replays, to find what is confusing and fix it fast. What you type is always masked in those recordings. We may recommend travel services we trust, and if you book through those links the partner may pay us a commission, which keeps core features free. You stay in control: decline analytics cookies on this site, use your browser's Do Not Track in the product, disconnect any account you connected, or ask us to delete everything we have.

Who we are

Trip Underway is operated by Epiphani Studios LLC, 433 Central Ave, Suite 400, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. This policy covers tripunderway.com and the Trip Underway apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

What we collect

Your account: your name, email address and, if you add one, your phone number. Your trips: the bookings, itineraries, confirmation emails, documents, notes and photos you forward, upload or type, and the travelers you add to them. Payments: your plan and billing history; card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers. Usage: on these marketing pages, anonymized page analytics through our own first-party tool, only after you accept cookies. Inside the product and on shared trip pages, we record how the app is used (page views, clicks, scrolls, and session replays) through our analytics provider PostHog. Watching where people get stuck is how we make Trip Underway better every week. Replays always mask what you type, are kept for about 30 days, and are not made if your browser sends Do Not Track. Submitting the waitlist form or opening the chat always logs that single action locally to process your request.

Your email

Every account has a private forwarding address: confirmation emails you send there are read and filed into your trips. You can also connect Gmail. That connection is read-only and asks Google for permission on Google's own screen. It looks only at travel messages (airlines, hotels, rental cars, booking sites and similar senders, with promotions left out). You can disconnect it at any time from Settings or from your Google Account. We use what we read only to build and update your trips, never for advertising. People at Trip Underway read it only with your permission, for security, or when the law requires it. Trip Underway's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. If you connect Google Calendar, we only create and update the calendar Trip Underway made for your trips.

How we use it

To run Trip Underway: turn emails into trips, keep flight times current, send the alerts you turned on, show your trips to the people you share them with, process your plan, answer support requests, keep accounts secure, and improve the product.

Who processes it for us

We use service providers that handle data only to run Trip Underway for us: Cloudflare (hosting and storage), OpenAI and Anthropic (the AI models that read confirmation emails and power the assistant; they do not use this data to train their models under our API terms), Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics), SMTP2GO (email delivery), Twilio (text alerts), and AeroDataBox, AviationStack and FlightAware (flight status, which receive flight numbers and dates, not your identity). Google and TripIt receive what you approve when you connect them.

Text messages (SMS)

If you add and verify your mobile number, we text you sign-in codes and, when you turn on SMS trip alerts, transactional trip notifications. Your mobile number is used only to send the messages you asked for. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. Sharing

When you share a trip or a plan, anyone with that link can see what you shared until you stop sharing. Family & Team members see the trips and items you make visible to them. Shared trip pages are kept out of search engines.

AI assistants and the MCP connector

Trip Underway can be used from your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT) through a connector. When you connect it, you sign in with OAuth through our shared account system and we store your email address and name from that sign-in. When your assistant calls the connector, we record the tool called and timestamps to enforce fair usage. We do not read or store your conversation with your assistant; only the specific tool request reaches us.

Our commitments

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertising networks. What you type is always masked in replays. We may show recommendations for trusted third-party travel services (hotels, flights, deals) inside the app. If you choose to book through these links, the partner may pay us a commission. We don't share your identity with partners unless you start a booking.

How long we keep it

Your trips and account data stay while your account is open. Session replays are kept for about 30 days. When you delete your account, we delete its data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting.

Your controls

Decline analytics cookies on these marketing pages at any time from the banner; your choice is remembered on return visits. Turn on Do Not Track in your browser and the product will not record your sessions. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Unsubscribe from the waitlist at any time via the link in any email we send. Disconnect Gmail, Google Calendar, TripIt or the AI connector at any time. To see, correct, export or delete your account and its data, email us and we will complete the request within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have further rights; write to us and we will honor them.

Children

Accounts are for adults. A parent or guardian may add a child to their own trips; we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 except as part of a parent's trip.

Changes

When we change this policy, we update the date above. For a material change, we email you or show a notice in the app before it takes effect.
